Wharton Data Services
Powered by WRDS OmniQuery

Wharton Data Services allows data owners to give a powerful, web-based access query system to end users.

About

A unified platform and interface to all the schools’ data assets.

How It Works

Once your data is in a well-defined PostgreSQL database, OmniQuery takes care of the rest to provide you a WRDS-like experience.

ETL Your Data

Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) your data into a well-defined database. OmniQuery can handle a variety of data formats and structures, making it easy to integrate your data into the system. Relationships such as indexes and foreign keys automatically describe data relationships, which are then used within the web interface.

Once your data is in the database, OmniQuery will populate the database metadata into a Data Dictionary, providing a powerful web-based query system for end users.

Additional Details

After OmniQuery has populated the Data Dictionary, you can additional details about your data:

  • Description labels for tables and columns
  • Extended documentation for tables and columns
  • Required columns, which will always be selected
  • Identifier columns, which will be highlighted for select
  • Featured columns, which will have mandatory input
  • Enforced date ranges for date and datetime columns

Data Access Controls

Create groups of users and assign them subscriptions to your data. A subscription allows a group of users access to a schema of data for a period of time, with any start and ending date.

This flexibility gives the data owner total control over who can access their data and when. You can also create a subscription that never expires, allowing users to access the data indefinitely.
